The Hveragerdi Golf Course is renowned for its beautiful surroundings and very unusually hazards as there are open hot springs as a hazards on the course.

The  golf course is  a nice 9 hole course close to Hveragerði, a village in South Iceland 35 min. drive from Reykjavik.

The club and the golf course

The Hveragerdi golf course was opened  2002, but  the Hveragerdi golf club was founded  June 1 st 1993.

The course is renowned for its beautiful surroundings and known for  very unusually hazards as there are open hot springs as a hazards on the course.

The course was designed by  Hannes Thorsteinsson and the layout is on both sides on Varmá ( Warm River). In 1995 the first 6 holes were played and from 2000 there have been 9 holes played there.

The Hveragerdi golf club owns the land  for 18 holes, but at this moment there are no plans of when that step will be taken. The aim is to be able to offer one of the best 9 holes in the country before taking the next step.

The Club house is an old barn that was solely built up by voluntary work and there are offered light meals, coffee and soup.
